Fracture and Repair

Deepen our understanding of the fractures within Israeli society today.

In shaping this Shabbat, we were guided by a desire to deepen our understanding of the fractures within Israeli society today.
In the midst of more than a year and a half of war - when there is a strong urge to rush toward conclusions and solutions - we chose to pause within the place of fracture: to sit with it, internalize it, and try to give language to where we truly are.

We began with both a personal and national rupture - the story of our dear friend Yehonatan Doytch”, shared by his father, Uri.
From there, we moved into a Kabbalat Shabbat and Israeli-style prayer, followed by a Shabbat dinner and our beloved “card circles” - this time with all disagreements placed openly on the table, with the aim of understanding the hidden gaps between us, those that are sometimes missed in social media discourse.

On Shabbat morning, we heard from Boaz, the director of the youth village, who shared how his day-to-day work is devoted to mending fractures - within individuals and between people.
We deepened this exploration through studying the ideas of Yigal Allon and Assaf Inbari.

In the afternoon, in chevruta-style learning, we examined how a fractured reality exposes the less beautiful sides of us as a society.
We’ll share more about the insights and conclusions soon, together with an invitation to our Tikkun Leil Shavuot event on May 31.

As Shabbat came to a close, we spoke with Roee Azizi, founder of the “Hinenu - Young People for the Western Negev” movement, who helped us frame the entire journey of the Shabbat with a clear message: to know how to take pain - and act. Together, we can build a new, young leadership and dare to dream big, despite everything.

It was a deeply moving group, a special weekend, and the beginning of a meaningful process that will conclude our second year of activity - from fracture to repair.
