Shabbat in memory of our friend Yehonatan Doytch at Yemin Orde Youth Village
The Shabbat was dedicated to exploring the gap between self-fulfillment and social responsibility, and to grappling with the big questions: What is our generation’s mission, and what action is required of us today?
On Friday night, we stayed up late into the night in deep conversations about a life of purpose and what it means, personally, to live a life of fulfillment.
On Saturday morning, we held a joint lesson and discussion with the youth in the village, focusing on the tension between career and calling, inspired by the writings of David Ben-Gurion. We concluded by dividing into groups based on areas of interest-education, entrepreneurship, politics, and security-where we worked to define our generation’s tasks in each field and consider how to put them into practice.
The entire Shabbat was dedicated to the memory of our beloved Yehonatan Deutsch, who was murdered in a terror attack in the Jordan Valley this past August, and who was one of the leaders and founders of “Tikvateu.”
